Mother’s Day Pampered Photoshoot
Why I want to capture this time in my life in Photograph's
I am a photographer if you haven't noticed lol! So of course I think highly of having portraits taken , because without it I cannot pay my bills right? Well that may be true in some ways but it isn't why I am a photographer.I take Portraits of people because I know how important it is to have something to look at and have it remind me of that time of my life. We are all visual people right? How good are you at remembering what people looked like when you were younger?I have a ton of memories of my mom, but when I think of her I think of the woman I see today. I don't think about her having longer brown hair and how she used to curl it from time to time. What comes to mind is her naturally beautiful salt and pepper hair, her more-than-she-would-prefer smile lines. It's not until I whip out some of our old photo albums and see the images of her holding me as a baby (actually the same age as my little girl is now) and saying WOW mom I cannot believe how much we look alike right here. Literally almost a spitting image. It brings me back to the feeling of her bringing me my warm blanket from out of the dryer and snuggling up with me on the couch. I love those memories, and I don't think I would be able to conjure those up out of the blue when I get older or try to describe it to my little girl when she grows up and grandma isn't around anymore. Portraits are precious, the people in them are even more so.One of my mentors did a photoshoot of a friend of hers and her little boy. I GASPED at how incredibly gorgeous that image was and I HAD TO HAVE ONE of me snd Stella before she got any older. It's so true how people say that times flies during these young years of hers, this year has been the fastest paced year of my life thus far. I want to remember it, and I want to have something to hang on my wall for 50 plus years (if I'm lucky). So there is no photographer I know that photographs this way near me so I set out to do one myself. My talented friend Marie did my Hair and Make-Up and it was the first time since Stella was born that I felt pampered and connected again to me and feeling very motherly. It was a beautiful and humbling feeling. But I remember being so bummed that I NEVER took one photo during the whole thing. I was like "dude what is my problem that's what I do," but I was so into being loved on and feeling beautiful it didn't even cross my mind.I set up the lights and had Marie and My mom help with getting Stella's attention and clicking the shutter. The result, the most beautiful image of my little girl and I could ever have. I just cannot express how much this image means to me. When she gets older she will be able to see the love I have for her in this single shot. Maybe even when she has a baby, she will see herself in me like I did with the image of my mom holding me when I was a baby.I created the Pampered Mother's Day session to share what I got to experience. The feeling of being connected to motherhood, of capturing such a precious time in your life and having something to hang on your wall and not just a background on your phone. It is something to celebrate being a mom and you and your loved ones aren't getting any younger.
